Watch John and Violet Dickson talk about their journey.
Watch Robert and Linda Heidler talk about their journey.
Listen to John and Violet Dickson talk about how dance became a prophetic expression of worship and spiritual warfare.
Janice Swinney talks about corporate intercession shifted from quiet, predetermined prayer lists to Spirit-led worship, declarations, and prophetic prayer.
In 1997, a prophetic word to “dig up the old foundation” led the church to confront and repent of outdated beliefs embedded in its bylaws.
A simple “Follow Me” written on a truck led Chuck and Pam toward Denton and a connection to the Soviet Bloc.
After a devastating year that nearly drove them from ministry, an unexpected encounter with the Holy Spirit transformed everything for Robert and Linda.
Through years of traveling with Chuck Pierce, Chad Foxworth learned that Kingdom favor empowers an assignment.
When we were still at the Liberty Gym, I first came to Believers Fellowship in 1991 and never left. It was a breath of fresh air from the beginning. At our first prophetic conference in 1993, Chuck prophesied to me that The Lord would use me to change the look of “the church”! Needless to say, I was excited to see how that would happen. I had just graduated with a degree in Interior Design from the University of North Texas. I began assisting in some decor for the offices, and a few small areas. Then Linda Heidler and Violet Dickson asked Jeannine Starr and me to do some displays that represented “Glory” for a ladies seminar when we were on University Drive. They liked the ideas we submitted but added they really wanted The Ark of the Covenant to be represented. Tears just started falling and I shared I didn’t feel adequate to touch that unless they prayed for me. So they prayed and asked the anointing of Bezalel to fall on us. We were able to portray The Ark of the Covenant.
We moved to Grapevine, TX in 1988. I (Carol) was not raised in church; in fact, I had never been to church in my life. I had walked by myself with the Lord since 1983. In 1999, I heard the Lord say, “It’s time to get connected”.
We had moved to Hickory Creek in 1994 and had no idea where to go. We went 2 Sundays to a church in Lewisville, and after the second Sunday, I knew it was not where God wanted us. Shortly after that, Bill saw an ad in the newspaper for Glory of Zion, “A Week of Revival”. We decided to go the next Sunday. The service was 6 hours long that day and was an absolute blast! We went the next Sunday, and I knew that I knew this was where God wanted us. We never looked back. God just tied our hearts here. In early 2000, one Sunday morning, Bill received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as the worship team was playing “Oh Happy Day”! The journey here has been amazing.
Bill became a part of the worship team, and I started working in the materials department in 2001. We became deacons, then elders. I am currently the Distribution/Materials Manager and Bill is now over our candle and oil production.
Glory of Zion has led us to come more fully into our calls and has been a catalyst in moving us into operating in the gifts of the Spirit. We both minister in healing and deliverance. One of our great joys is to lay hands on people and see God touch them. The journey has not always been easy, but the blessings have been amazing. We know we are where God wants us to be!
Thank you Chuck for taking on the mission of keeping this ministry continually moving forward!
My late husband and I met Chuck in 1999 @ a FMCI conference & almost immediately began attending GOZ conferences and First Fruit services. We knew from the start that we wanted to be aligned with him and Glory of Zion, due in great part because of the love we heard and felt for Israel.
We moved to Denton area in 2011 just about the time that GOZ moved into the Global Spheres Center. Those early days of 5:00 prayer in what is now called our Miracle Center are unforgettable!
Not too long after getting settled in Denton, I (Pamela) began volunteering in the Garden once a week just watering all of the amazing plants … those times in the Garden were like honey to my soul.
Rick and I were accepted to be greeters at all of the conferences as well as assisting Penni & Terry Davidson with communion and water baptisms. Even though Chuck would often speak of how GOZ was an Apostolic Center and not a church, we made friends, felt loved, and desired to be as involved as possible. During 2013 – 2014 we hosted a College & Career HOZ, and several of those wonderful young people are now married with children!
About the time of the beginning of Kingdom Harvest Alliance, (shortly after Rick’s homegoing) I had an experience where Holy Spirit made it very clear to me that I was exactly where He wanted me to be.
My favorite clock stopped working and no matter what I did to fix, even purchasing a kit of new hour and minute hands, it would not work. One evening, after many frustrating attempts, I went to bed telling the Lord that He would have to be the one who fixed it, because I was done! The next morning, when I got up and walked into my kitchen, my clock was showing the exact time! When I asked Holy Spirit HOW???, He said, “ It is all in the alignment. When the hands were aligned properly, it was able to be in perfect timing!” I knew that by being aligned with GOZ, and KHA, I was in God’s Perfect Timing!
Currently, I volunteer in our Hospitality area, as well as pray with people in our Connect Center.
Thank you, Chuck and Pam, and all of the other people who so faithfully went before us in making Glory of Zion what it is today.
After college, the Lord led Violet and I to open a Christian bookstore in our hometown. In our 8th year (new beginnings), God said we had grown as much as we could grow where we were. If we wanted to continue to grow in Him, we would need to move to where He would show us. We thought that would be East Texas where several ministries were operating in the mid 70s (Keith Green, YWAM, etc.), but to our surprise, He moved us to Denton to work with a small ministry for a couple of years.
After that, we moved across town, and Violet, who was 8 months pregnant, met a neighbor who invited us to Believers’ Bible Church. I knew that Bible churches typically did not believe in Spiritual gifts or the moving of the Spirit, so I decided not to go. When Violet got back she said, “This guy taught on Covenant in a way I know he didn’t get from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has the Spirit on him!” So I decided to go the following Sunday. Robert told the congregation that he wanted the church to be filled with praise and worship, and I thought, “This doesn’t sound like any Bible church I’ve ever heard of!
When our youngest son, Jonathan, was born and ended up in I.C.U., Robert showed up to pray for him. He prayed a prayer of faith for healing! A few weeks later, we finally got together with Robert and Linda. We discovered they were both baptized in the Holy Spirit, and they discovered they had a Spirit filled Worship Leader sitting on the back row of their church. Eventually Robert brought me on as worship leader, and we slowly began to incorporate worship and praise into the Sunday services. The earth shook. People protested. But God was faithful and each week we moved a little more into the things of the Spirit.
Then Chuck and Pam came. Chuck began to teach us about Intercession and took us outside the four walls of the church to intercede over the financial structures of the city, then the government structures, educational structures and more. Eventually we brought the Intercessory Prophetic Worship into the church services. Every step was slow but God was moving us forward.
In the early 90s we began holding small conferences on-site. At one of these conferences, Violet stepped out in a spontaneous prophetic song, “For I Am Jehovah” (My Word Shall go Forth as a Sword from My Mouth). Back then it was quite a shock, but the musicians caught on and followed her through three verses and a chorus. From there on the Worship Team became more and more spontaneous and prophetic. Then Chuck charged Violet with starting a dance ministry. Though it’s common now, it was an adventure to move through back then.
With Chuck there was always something new. We were all continually challenged and stretched. He never allowed us to rest in a status quo. When one thing was established, he
pressed us into another. As new generations rose up, Chuck pressed them into the “new.” Eventually they began to bear the burden of raising the banner on a new hill. Chuck keeps moving strong with new generations, and we are now a part of the Intercessors for those ministries.
So, Violet and I are retired but not done. Violet leads prayer teams mostly to Washington D.C., with a focus to pray over cases at the Supreme Court. Violet and I also lead an incredible group of Intercessors every Sunday morning in Peter Wagner’s room, before the regular service. These weekly meetings are reminiscent of the worship and intercessory meetings that we operated in during the developing years of the church. God continues to move in new and exciting ways, and Violet & I feel privileged to witness and be part of it all.
My name is Chad Foxworth. I currently serve as Pastor of Benevolence for this wonderful house. I also serve as keyboardist for our Judah team and serve in co-leading Second Chance Men’s ministry. My story begins where I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. My journey with The Lord started when I was around 7 years old. At that age, I got saved in a Southern Baptist church in Orleans Parish. From that time, my parents kept me very close to church life. We attended different denominations throughout my childhood. We started in the Baptist church, then we moved on to Full gospel, then to Assembly of God congregations. I’ve had an extremely religious upbringing. I also took piano lessons during my childhood. When I was 13, I started leading worship at a full gospel church. My desire for His presence started during this time in my life.
When I graduated High School in 1999, I took off a semester to seek God on what was next for my life. That October, I attended an annual worship conference at CFNI (Christ for the Nations Institute) in Dallas, TX. Because of my experience at that conference, I joined the school in January 2000. I graduated in 2002 by finishing an associate’s degree in theology. I decided to make Dallas my new home after graduating.
In December 2004, my mother came to visit me for the weekend. She insisted that we go to this church in Denton, TX. This was an hour drive from where I lived at the time. Agreed to attend Glory of Zion for the first time that weekend. That’s where my journey began with this legendary ministry. I came on staff in 2008. Then went on to travel regularly with Apostle Chuck Pierce from 2009 to 2022. I have been to dozens of nations with him and others all over the world. During my travels, I went through several different changes and learned a great deal. I married my wife Jennifer in April 2016. We had our current only child Alaric in July 2019. Many things at home required my attention which ended my season of travel.
My time at this ministry has been the honor of my life. I have never been able to hear the voice of Father like I can now. I owe this growth to the incredible fathers and mothers of this house! The privilege given to me to travel and assist one of the great generals of our time, I can’t put my gratitude into words. Be able to see the different works of The Body of Christ was priceless. Being able to build relationships that will last the rest of my life is not something you take lightly. The one phrase I would hear from thousands worldwide, “GOZ is my lifeline! Thank you for all you do!” To be a lifeline for so many in the world is why GOZ is the ministry it is on this 50th anniversary! My name is Chad Foxworth. How Mary Ellen and I found Believer’s Fellowship was an answer to prayer. While in the US Air Force, we attended a bible church led by a Dallas Theological Seminary-trained pastor. We were greatly enriched by his biblical knowledge and honed teaching methods. After transferring to the Philippines, we attended another DTS-trained chaplain’s service. However, through our travels, we learned about spiritual warfare and dark forces ever-present in Asia. We then started attending a second service led by an Assemblies of God chaplain who taught us about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts still being for today, and powerful expressions of praise and worship.
When we moved to Denton in January, 1989, we specifically sought a DTS-trained pastor who was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Because of theological differences, such a combination could prove difficult to find. We prayed and God answered our prayers. Through Mary Ellen’s Yellow Pages search and phone call to Believer’s Fellowship, God faithfully directed us to Pastor “Hobie” Robert Heidler.
We, along with our daughter Jessica (5) and son Peter (2), first attended in the small red brick building on Heather Lane the following Sunday. Much to our surprise, the Heidler’s were away and Chuck Pierce was the guest speaker. During his message, Mary Ellen heard the Lord say, “I have brought you here to sit under this man’s teaching.” The following Sunday, we met Hobie and Linda. His teaching was everything needed to confirm we had found our new church home. We have been attending faithfully for over 37 years since.
Over the last 37+ years, we together have served as deacons and elders, led a weekly Bible study, and led a House of Zion. For 33 years, we have spearheaded the Living Nativity Scene. Mary Ellen served as a Women’s House of Zion leader and a worship team intercessor. She also traveled extensively with Chuck Pierce as an intercessor during the 1990’s and 2000’s to global conferences throughout the Americas, Asia, and Europe. We’ve opened our home countless times to travelers and speakers visiting GOZ conferences and hosted many GOZ-member wedding and baby showers.
What we sought with that first phone call has manifested 100-fold in our lives. The solid foundation of biblical teaching coupled with the Holy Spirit’s presence throughout worship, teaching, and ministry at GOZ has profoundly enriched and transformed our lives.
Robert’s in depth, doctrinally sound teaching; Chuck’s ongoing revelations, prophesies, and perspectives; and guest speakers’ diverse and engaging lessons, constantly inspire, challenge, and encourage us to grow and mature. Even the leadership’s vulnerability at times during messages and ministry has been life changing by helping us prioritize what truly matters, what has eternal significance, and that our past does not dictate our future.
Consistently we have witnessed the spiritual fathers and mothers greatly invest in raising up the younger generations. It blesses us to see how our own children and grandchildren are grafted into the church body, staff, and community, and the many open ended opportunities extended to them.
Since the beginning of our time here, we have been shown the love, grace, and freedom to discover and awaken our potential, purpose, spiritual gifts, and unique God-given identity and inheritance. People are faithful to support, encourage, and pray during our spiritual, emotional, and physical challenges as well as rejoice and celebrate with us in our prosperity.
We are thankful the Lord led us here. It has been an interesting journey to witness and participate in the many changes and growth from Believer’s Fellowship to where Glory of Zion is today. We look forward to God’s plans going forward.
My first opportunity to meet Apostle Chuck was in 1994 at a Healing America’s Wounds conference hosted by Cindy Jacobs. He was a “rockstar” prayer room and intercessory leader to me and my friends, and we all wanted to be around him and learn what He was hearing from heaven. Four years later, he and his family moved to Colorado Springs to assist Peter and Doris Wagner at the World Prayer Center. With his need for a personal assistant, I was invited to serve in that role. I began traveling with him – accruing over 2 million flight miles as I accompanied him to all 50 states and more than 50 nations. My call to the nations was activated in a new way – especially with regards to God’s covenant nation, Israel.
When I moved to Texas in 2002, I was not only able to attend Sunday services and conferences at Glory of Zion, but the many midweek prayer and worship gatherings where things got even wilder! I had never experienced such a dedicated troop who were free to hear, see, and worship in the liberty of Holy Spirit. As one of the Vice Presidents, I have been privileged to serve in the administration of this international ministry. Whether in coordinating schedules, correspondence, campus activities, conferences or prayer ministry, I am grateful to be part of this Kingdom call. My 32 years of alignment have defined my gift and mission, and caused God’s Word and Spirit to guide me like never before. I am grateful for all who have served to develop a foundation and atmosphere for the Glory of the Lord to arise and shine in this place.
While President of Denton Women’s Aglow in late 1980 I met and asked Chuck Pierce to be an Advisor, then I started attending Believer’s Fellowship, later known as Glory of Zion.
After facilitating Bible Studies for the women there, Chuck asked me to start Women’s Houses of Zion in 2008 in homes with Worship, Word & Ministry. We are now in our 18th year and exploding with well over 50 Houses.
Chuck ordained me in 2009 & identified me as an Apostle with pastoral & evangelistic giftings. Our covenant alignment all these years has very greatly impacted my destiny and is very rewarding to this day!
Simon and Lydia Lyons are part of a generation that grew into the life of Glory of Zion while also helping to see it into a new era. Lydia’s connection to the ministry reaches back even to birth. Her parents, John and Emily Taylor, were part of the founding eldership of Believers’ Fellowship which gave her a firsthand view of the ministry’s progression through its different locations and seasons. She served for years in media and financial roles while working on her MBA and eventually became Director of Finance, helping provide the administrative strength and care required by an increasingly complex international ministry.
Simon moved to Texas while serving in the Army Reserves, and began studying at the University of North Texas. He became deeply involved in the media and production work of Glory of Zion and Global Spheres Center. His responsibilities developed across sound, cameras, live production, and media until he would go on to serve in leadership within the ministry’s media teams and help to facilitate the creative outflow.
Together, Simon and Lydia became part of both the practical and generational strength of the ministry. Their work came to serve two areas that were increasingly important as Glory of Zion matured. Lydia helped carry the financial and organizational responsibilities of a growing ministry, while Simon helped oversee the online webcasts and in house infrastructure that connected the house to the Body. Simon writes:
This house and our tribe here means so much to us. What it has provided us in terms of mentorship, freedom, and love are beyond anything I could have ever hoped for. My heart swells to think of all God has done for us and now my prayer is that we are able to serve as faithfully as those who have come before us for as long as the Lord would have us.
My name is Keevy Phillips and I have been apart of Glory of Zion since 2005. My mother Mellissa and twin brother Kyev came to GZI at a very critical time in our lives. We were still grieving the transition of my grandmother, Kyev and I were about to enter high school, and mom was doing her best to raise us as a single mother. My cousins – the Gary family – introduced us to GZI. It was nothing like II had ever felt or seen in my life. My mother’s words were “I have to be crazy to drive from Fort Worth to Denton (Wood Hill Square) to go the church” but she heard the Lord say to her “Your boys need this.” From that moment on we have been a part of this body. God has used GZI to help the Phillips family become what we were called to be.
When I came to GZI I got to know many of the staff members (many of them I work with now) and became a part of Judah. Chuck was traveling extensively at that time and only coming home for First Fruits. But he always checked on my family making sure had what we needed and became who we were called to be. As time passed my involvement at GZI increased while my banking career in Fort Worth seemed to taking off simultaneously. In 2014 the LORD stopped Chuck in Nigeria and told him “Hire Keevy! He is called to GZI.” So I laid down my banking career to work as a staff member. I soon discovered I was called to help further the mission and the call of this ministry – not to take some job opening. I pray my generation never forget why we are here.
My life has forever been changed by Chuck and Pam Pierce and the rest of the Pierce family. They have taken me as their own son along with the rest of my family. Robert and Linda Heidler, John and LeAnn Squier, as well as John and Violet Dickson were instrumental to my life then and now. Many others like Janice Swinney and Anne Tate have helped along the way too.
I want to thank GZI for the last fifty years but we are just getting started! I We have a bright future and I am excited to begin the next phase of the journey.
Full of Faith,
Keevy Phillips
My name is John Mark Pierce. Chuck and Pam Pierce are my parents, so naturally, I grew up at Glory of Zion (or Believer’s Fellowship back in the day). Growing up at GOZ was so much fun. It had such a strong family atmosphere at it and most of those people are still in my life today and have made positive impacts on my life. I made some of my best friends through the church and am very grateful for that.
We left GOZ for 2 years so that Dad could go to Colorado to help establish the World Prayer Center. No one in our family was happy about that move, but as I’ve grown older I’ve understood how important it was to the growth of this ministry. The church went through some rough patches while we were gone and wasn’t quite the same when we moved back, which was both good and bad. It was sad to see some people go separate ways, but it opened the path for new growth that was important.
I didn’t start working here until September 2006 when I was 20. My parents made it clear that I couldn’t work here until I worked somewhere else for 2 years. When I started I worked in the shipping department and now, after almost 20 years of being here, I have worked in almost every department here trying to better understand how the ministry works.
There have definitely been some dark days in my personal life, but I believe that because of the things I have learned in my walk, not only with the Lord, but just being here, have helped me stay grounded in who I am in Christ. The belief system and trust that I have in the Lord, as well and the grace that has been exhibited during times of struggle, is what helped me through my darkest times. I will forever be grateful to the Lord as well as GOZ for that.
I believe that the Lord has greatly blessed this place for the dedication that Chuck and others have shown throughout the years and I am honored to have been able to call this place, not only ny place of work, but my home for the last 20 years.
With Love,
John Mark Pierce
The roads you take lead you to where you belong. My journey to Glory of Zion I believe was in the making long before I knew. The Lord had a plan and he brought me back to Denton to work with my family and the Church. Yes, it was a surprise to me. However, from starting out answering the phones at Woodhill Square, to running the day to day operations of a building and part of an incredible ministry organization is very rewarding. Plus my ‘ Mama’ said you gonna stay here and work with Chuck – cause the Lord has much more for him to do! Here I Am!!
What a whirlwind the last 37 years has been. I got to Believer’s Fellowship when I was nine years old. My family was blended and I think my parents were just looking for some anchor in our lives. I was already working on my musical skills at the young age of nine years old. By the time I was fifteen, the Lord mantled me for the future and I began serving on the worship team for what was still Believer’s fellowship at that time. When I was 17, the newly minted Glory of Zion International Worship Team began traveling the country and playing at large national conferences. We also recorded our first album “There’s a Rumbling in the Heavens.” When I was 22, I began producing albums for Chuck Pierce and Glory of Zion International. It has been a great joy in my life to have produced every album since 2003 for this ministry.
Having Chuck Pierce, John Dickson, Robert Heidler, Linda Heidler, LeAnn Squier and many others as spiritual mentors has had an immeasurable effect on my life. I am so thankful I grew up in an environment where your spiritual existence was not handed to you or spoon fed to you. It has caused me to be very curious and inquisitive rather than boxed in to belief systems I did not come by legitimately. The spiritual forerunners in my life are all examples of never being satisfied with what you know or thinking you have arrived. They all are continually running after God and searching out His mysteries. There could not be a more inspiring way of being mentored. I am eternally grateful.
It is much easier to just absorb the beliefs and systems of your father than to seek it out for yourself. But I believe a day comes for everyone where in order for something to be authentic, it must be mined down to the depths. God planted me in a place where that was not only possible, but encouraged.
My prayer for the future is that any seeds I plant are from a place of radical and deep authenticity.
As a blended family, we recognized that we needed guidance as we brought our two families together. A friend invited us to Believers Fellowship, and we decided to visit.
Our traditional idea of what a church should look like was challenged when we pulled up to the little red building. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. There was something special that kept drawing us back week after week. It wasn’t until later that we realized what we had been experiencing all along- it was the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.
Thom joined the worship team after John discovered that he played guitar. During this time, we attended Robert (Hobie) & Linda’s cell group, where we continued to grow in our knowledge of the Lord. Our boys were actively involved in the youth group and participated in many of the youth activities.
As God’s Word continued to bring revelation and direction to Chuck and the church leadership, the congregation quickly outgrew the little red building. The church office moved to the Texas Building on the square, and worship services were relocated to Liberty Christian School.
During this season, June began working for the church, Thom continued serving on the worship team, and we “volunteered “ (LOL) our boys to help with setting up and taking down chairs and equipment each week. It became a family effort, and we were grateful to be part of what God was doing as the church continued to grow.
Many changes were taking place, including new locations, the name change from Believers Fellowship to Glory of Zion Outreach / International, expanded involvement in conferences, and the writing and promotion of books by Chuck and Robert, all while continuing a growing outreach ministry.
It has been exciting to witness the impact these changes have had- not only in our own lives personally, but around the world. Chuck, along with the leadership, has touched countless lives through their vision, teaching, and faithful commitment, and that influence continues to grow today. We are forever thankful for them!
It was in the early fall of 1981 that I stumbled upon a little church on Heather Lane in Denton. I had recently taken a job at what was then North Texas State University, and was looking for a place to worship. It called itself “Believers’ Fellowship” and would be my church home for the next 15 years. It was considered a “Bible Church” (I was actually attracted to its order of worship, which in some ways resembled that of some “Plymouth Brethren” assemblies I’d visited in the past. All of that would soon change). Shortly after my arrival, I found myself serving as church-pianist, a position from which I would be witness and participant in the many changes which would take place both within myself and in the church during the following 15 years. There would be huge shifts in the membership of the congregation–when I departed for Israel in 1996, there was only one family besides our pastors Robert and Linda Heidler who had been there when I arrived 15 years before! Part of this turnover was due no doubt to being in a “university town”–but during the mid-eighties, the Holy Spirit began to manifest among us in new ways, which saw many within the congregation depart–and many more come in. John and Violet Dickson arrived, and our worship services shifted from hymns and gospel songs out of a hymn book with one songleader, to worship and praise songs (many newly written), projected on a screen, all led by John with something new called a “worship team.” About that time, Chuck and Pam Pierce came on the scene. Meanwhile, something called “the prophetic” began to manifest and move amongst us–and they along with Robert and Linda, guided us along the paths of this new territory–territory which they themselves were still exploring. As the piano player, there were certainly new paths for me. I had absolutely no paradigm for “free” or “prophetic” worship–of creating on the piano an atmosphere in which the spirit could move freely. But being mentored by Chuck, affirmed by Robert and others, and being taken out with the rest of the team by John to lead worship for various other ministries, I began to learn. Meanwhile, I was being equipped on the worship team with masses of music and experiences for a future I could not have imagined. During those years at the piano, I was learning to honour and follow the authority of my leader, and to flow with what the Spirit was doing on others in the group. Occasionally, Chuck would take me out to lead worship with a small intercessory group at strategic locations around the city. Robert taught on The Tabernacle of David, about future places where there would be continual worship and intercession by Believers from many different fellowships. Again, I had no idea how this was actually serving as a harbinger for my future. In the mid-eighties, I had become close friends with Marty and Marlene Waldeman, a Messianic couple who had been sent out from Believers Fellowship to begin a Messianic congregation, “Baruch HaShem” in a Jewish area of North Dallas. For several years, I would join them for their Shabbat services on Friday evenings.
I turned 40 in 1989..I don’t know if ‘life begins’ for others at that age, but things certainly began to change for me. In 1994, I found myself sent out by the congregation to take supplies and to serve for three weeks as intercessor for a ministry which was digging wells for the Kurds in northern Iraq. A short time after my return, I met a woman who was Jewish, had served for 15 years as a Special Ed teacher in N. Dallas, had many of the same friends as myself, and who had made aliya (immigrated) to Israel four years before. I discovered later that she had actually spoken in our congregation twice in the past–but the Lord had made sure I wasn’t present on those occasions! Norma, besides having a secular job, was working with youth in Israel. I was 45 and had never been married. We became friends, and two years later we were married in a Messianic ceremony at Believers Fellowship, with Robert Heidler opening the service and Marty Waldeman serving as Rabbi. A month later, I left Believers’ Fellowship (which sent us out with loads of love–and a new Kurzweil synthesizer (which would be used immensely over the next decade in the national youth festivals and other venues), and joined her on Mount Carmel in Israel. A month later I received Israeli citizenship, and have been there ever since.
In the 30 years since arriving in Israel, Believers’ Fellowship–now Glory of Zion, has continued to be a nourishing blessing to me. From my learning and equipping there, I have gone on to be worship leader at two Hebrew-speaking Messianic congregations in Jerusalem. And in 2000, we assisted Rick and Patricia Ridings in establishing a House of Prayer called “Succat Hallel” (Tabernacle of Praise) in Jerusalem where, for many years, there has been continuous worship and intercession rising over Jerusalem, with visitors taking part from all over the world. For 20 years we wrote a weekly “Prayer Update from Israel”, which Chuck Pierce and Global Spheres sent out all over the world. And for 20 years, GOZI has made possible for us to be positioned in an apartment across the valley from Mount Zion, a strategic place which often serves as a resting place for ministers whom the Lord sends from all over the world with assignments in Jerusalem.
Norma and I are deeply grateful for the place Glory of Zion has had, and still has, in our lives–and in Jerusalem.
We join in praising Our Lord with you for these 50 years!!
My first interaction with the body of GOZI was when they were located in the small white building on University Avenue. It was during a week-end Prophetic gathering. I was living in Dallas at the time and working in the business world at Neiman Marcus. I went to the copy room and saw a bulletin that was announcing a Prophetic gathering at a location in Denton, Texas. I had heard of this Prophet, named Chuck Pierce. I immediately called my friend Anne Tate, who was living in another state at the time, and told her about it. The miracle here was that there was no name on the fax – neither where it came from or to whom it was sent. Later I began to see how the Spirit of the Lord was the Person who sent the invitation directly to my workplace. We visited on Saturday night. It was on the night that Rabbi had a name change, from Hobie to Robert. The atmosphere was charged with the prophetic word and joy of life. I was hooked!
My first visit to the location of Woodhill Square was in December, 2001. It was a troubling time for our Nation – only three months out from the terrorist attack on our land. At that time, I was in leadership at a large church in Dallas, but was so drawn to this body of believers I could not stay away. I recognized “my tribe” and by Spring of 2002, this became my House of Bread. I began coming from Dallas two or three times a week to gather for worship and intercession. The atmosphere was pregnant with the “Spirit of Giving” and I was compelled and joyous to give. Later, I understood. from the Lord that he used this window of time after 911 to send out a clarion call to the territories around Denton to draw those to this “prototype” that would become an Apostolic Center in days ahead.
I came to Glory of Zion with a small house group of intercessors whose prayer focus was for Anne and Don Tate serving in Kosovo at the time. This group began to change to a greater prophetic focus with a broader scope. I was invited and honored by Apostle Chuck to participate as a Board Member of Glory of Zion International. I was involved in the 6:00 am prayer for several years which was led mostly by Chuck. I began co-leading prayer before services and watched our home group began to expand rapidly. When Anne returned from overseas ourgroup met every Sunday night and we began personal prophetic training as well as a focus and seeking further revelations on theprophetic words that were released that morning in the worship service. This continued for about 7 years. Then in April of 2009I was re-orged out of Neiman Marcus and took retirement of 20 years. In August, 2009 I purchased a home in Denton and came on staff atGOZI in June of 2009. I remember one short season of service at theWoodhill Square location. The service people who had been cleaning the ever-expanding spaces had quit. So Keith Pierce, Lee Forrest, AnneTate and myself cleaned the building(s) before Sunday services. I felt it was my reasonable service to go wherever and do whatever I could to honor this amazing vision that the Lord had given these Leaders.
I can honestly say, Glory of Zion and the Vision of this House definitely not only impacted my walk with the Lord, but expanded my vision intoways and places I had not imagined. I have been called and sent onnational and international journeys as the Lord led. Being aligned herehas been a door of opportunity to feed His Kingdom sheep and to seekHim on undoing the work of the enemy in other lives from the officeof a Pastor. I came to Glory of Zion with 25 years of walking in the Spiritwith the Lord. As I have told Apostle Chuck several times, “I don’t knowwhy or how the Lord could direct my path to bring me to this outstanding place with an International voice of Kingdom Life, but I am so glad He did.” This past 25 years have brought me to this “season of maturation”which is getting me prepared to hear, “Well done”. Is this not what we all desire to hear?
I don’t remember the exact dates for many things or the sequence of events. But I remember clearly the first time I came with Janice Swinney to Glory of Zion in 1998. We went to a Prophetic School because Janice had gotten an invitation over her fax machine in the Production Department of Nieman Marcus Stores Headquarters. She called me in Arkansas and told me it was a meeting that had my name all over it and to get in my car and come.
In 1997 I had a dream and, in the dream, I was sitting at a high table in an airport with a white-haired man I did not know. I was relating to him a principle of intercession the Lord had just spoken to me. The dream shifted and I woke myself and my husband prophesying what the Lord was saying. The Lord was answering me about the intercession I had been in for a year. He told me, “You are going to go everywhere I send you and you are going to do everything I have called you to do.” I had been praying that he would get me in the steps of my destiny that was connected to his original purpose for me.
The day Janice and I drove to the gathering at Glory of Zion, we both stepped into our future that would take us forward into our fulfillment of destiny. I walked into the bookstore that morning and Chuck was coming out and I nearly fainted as I recognized the white-haired man I had dreamed of. Janice and I and sometimes my husband Don began to come to Dallas for meetings at Glory of Zion and other gatherings that were being held in the metro-plex.
In the Spring of 2000 Don and I moved from Arkansas to Dallas as Don had retired as Police Chief in El Dorado, Arkansas and there was a word over us that we were going to be sent into the nations. We knew it was going to be some kind of battlefield situation and by August Don was sent to Kosovo and I followed in November. We served there for two years and then returned to Dallas and Glory of Zion.
Linda Heidler called one day and asked me to lead intercession. I thought she meant for the following Sunday, and I said yes that I would be happy too. She then explained to me that I was not understanding, I was being asked to lead from then into the foreseeable future. Typically, I had no idea how that would develop and I said yes.
Eventually, I went to work full time at Glory of Zion and Don would be sent to Iraq and then Jordan to work in those nations and then with the organization that had sent him out located in Ft. Worth and I began to travel with Chuck and the team that had been with him before I came.
Our lives changed as we grew and matured in the Lord and moved forward in the paradigm the Lord was creating. The Lord told me I was sent to Glory of Zion to help give birth to the prototype he was bringing forth for the future.
The impact on my life and the lives of those of us who were participating in the pursuit of the Lord here was overwhelming and exciting and frustrating all at the same time. I was stretched beyond what I thought I could do and each time I was proved wrong. I finally began to believe that if Chuck or the Lord told me to do something, I could do it. Many others and I were restored to the functional design of the creator.
Sometimes on Sunday mornings or during the celebration of one of the feasts I will see the people worshipping or giving at the altar and remember their testimonies that have come forth from this fountain of life that has been created here to activate and equip giftings within each one and then send them out to execute the instructions of the Lord to them.
I have witnessed the killing of the old Church structure that we drove by the religious spirit that was the substitute power behind it. We all had come here searching for the Church and the Kingdom Jesus died to give us. We learned to unlock Kingdom and witness dead bones as they began to dance and arise as a worshipping army.
I have been privileged to be a part of this company and watched as this God breathed beginning took place. Forerunners never get it all right, but we are positioned to move into harvest and receive power from on high. It is my prayer that the generations that are participating now and those that will follow will pursue with faith every instruction of the Lord and to hear and see what we could not.
Our good friends Ed and Debra Cook were part of a collegiate ministry with us that moved John to Denton to investigate starting this ministry at North Texas State University (now UNT) and TWU. We got married in 1986 so that brought Emily to Denton too. The Cooks were going to Believers’ Fellowship and knew we would like it. We followed them there and started going to the little church on Heather Lane as newlyweds.
We first served as greeters and later became the greeter coordinators. John ran the sound equipment while Emily sang on the worship team. John gathered the ushers and communion servers for Sunday services. Emily oversaw the women’s ministry and had a Pioneer Club group that included a young Lindy Heidler. We led a cell group in our home for several years.
Once at Liberty, John coordinated the set-up and take-down crews in preparation for Sunday services, Sunday school, and the nurseries. Emily volunteered in the nursery rotation. John became one of the original five elders and Emily was the church secretary. We participated in prophetic ministry team training and served on the ministry team. We had the privilege of going to Toronto with Robert during the Toronto Blessing.
At the University site, Emily administrated vacation Bible schools. She also facilitated a children’s program called Sonlight and helped with Zion Kids on Sunday mornings. Emily led the children’s choir for plays and Christmas performances.
Then at Woodhill Square, John and Emily continued ministry training which now included deliverance and inner healing. Emily became a part of CALT (Children’s Apostolic Leadership Team) and visited the children as Missions Molly inviting guests to speak to the children about other countries and cultures. We hosted youth group gatherings at our home. Emily took several trips with the youth group.
By the time we arrived in Corinth, there were many on staff so the need for volunteers diminished. Thus our role changed to that of encouraging the next generation.
We stayed in Denton because of our covenant relationships with our church family versus moving for various business opportunities. Our church family has supported us through parenting and milestones in our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren. We already embraced the prophetic before coming to Believers’ Fellowship, but we realized so much more about hearing God’s voice while attending church. Worship was an important part of our lives prior to Believers’ Fellowship, but John Dickson led us into a more intimate place as we learned from him. Sitting under Robert’s teaching has given us insight and motivation to continue to seek after Him. Chuck’s ongoing example of generosity has expanded our thinking concerning giving, and his love and commitment to us and to the body of Christ globally stirs our faith and fills our hearts. Beyond the ministry gifts of these men and their wives, they are our friends.
The elder couple leadership group helped to establish our church all over Denton, but when we moved to Corinth, the five-fold ministry gifts were honored and fully activated. This was necessary for the church to move forward in the purposes God had for GOZ. We are blessed to be a part of this journey for the last 40 years, and we are excited for the next generation’s story.
In 2005 we returned from Queens, NY where we planted a church under the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC). After five years of ministering in Queens, the Lord directed us to Texas. We had the understanding that we would be pastoring an IPHC church in Texas. Due to a misunderstanding, which we know was God ordained, we decided to leave the IPHC and seek another church.
In December of 2005 my wife remembered that Chuck Pierce had a church in Denton, TX. The reason we were drawn to Chuck Pierce’s ministry was that my wife had met him through Aglow International that she had been affiliated with for many years. Both of us sat under his teaching as a visiting lecturer at Southwestern College of Christian Ministries, in Bethany OK.
Becoming a full-time attendee at GOZ was not easy for me. I had never in my very conservative church up bringing experienced all that I had encountered at GOZ. It was Dr. Robert Heidler’s teaching and Holy Spirit that assured me that we were in the right place. For my wife it was a different story, she was at home from the very start.
We agreed that we would sit for one year and see how Holy Spirit would move. Just about one year later we were contacted by Brian Kooiman requesting a meeting with Chuck. He said that Chuck had observed us and wanted to get to know us.
That is how Mr. & Mrs. Timmons came to become a fixture at GOZ. We were first commissioned to host a Family House of Zion. We trained several individuals who were later released to start their own House of Zion and some who are now on staff at the church. Holy Spirit released us from our House of Zion Ministry after 9-1/2 years and moved us into our own ministry. My wife started Keys of the Kingdom Coaching, and I began Image Changers Academy focusing on men.
In 2023 Chuck asked me if I would lead the men’s ministry which we chose to name Second Chance Men’s Ministry, indicating that God gives all of us a second chance.
My wife and I have made ourselves available to be used at GOZ in any capacity that the leadership and Holy Spirit request of us. We currently serve as Elders at GOZ.
The past 21 years have been a rewarding journey, and we look forward to each day that God allows us to walk this path.
